On Friday, May 1, Baltimore’s chief prosecutor, Marilyn J. Mosby, charged six police officers (including a lieutenant and a sergeant) with a variety of crimes, including second-degree “depraved heart murder” and involuntary manslaughter, in the arrest and fatal injuries of 25-year old Freddie Gray.  This swift action was taken after Mr. Gray’s death drew national attention to police conduct yet again, and was announced shortly after officials had cautioned it could take considerable time for Ms. Mosby’s office to complete its own investigation and decide whether or not to prosecute.  To read the rest of this story head to the NY Times.
