Bangser was appointed to serve as the Chair of the Child Law Section Council for the Illinois State Bar Association for the 2019-2020 year. The mission of the Child Law Section Council is: a) to inform all lawyers practicing in the areas impacting children, including but not limited to juvenile justice and child protection law, adoption, education, guardianship, family law of the current and significant developments in those areas; b) to review, monitor and propose legislation in all legal areas impacting children; c) to enhance the professional skills of lawyers who practice in these areas through continuing legal education programs and publications; and d) to provide a forum for all entities, lawyers and other interested parties to work for the refinement and improvement of laws and systems impacting children. Among the many programs and goals set for Child Law this year is a 10-plus hour Continuing Legal Education program for Domestic Relations/Family Law Guardian Ad Litem’s and Child Representatives, which will be held on October 16-17, 2019 in Springfield – a training that the Section Council is attempting to get certified as the very first statewide-accepted training of its kind.
Marc, who served as the acting Vice-Chair and Secretary of Child Law for the 2018-2019 section year, was honored to be appointed to this important position, stating, “I’m excited to have the chance to lead an exceptional group of attorneys and judges from across the state that share a common goal – to further the best interests of children and assist their advocates in their desire to do the same.”
